From britta on Fri, Jan 02, 2009 at 10:30:56

Cal--I haven't taken meds for about a week now.

I should have made this more of a formal announcement on my blog but.... My husbands company is transfering us to Orange County CA. We will be moving the end of Feb.

From britta on Fri, Jan 02, 2009 at 10:31:37

It does look I am announcing a birth instead huh?

From Cal on Sat, Jan 03, 2009 at 01:02:41

Actually i had several guesses and one of them was Orange County. Pretty cool. I think the climate should be awesome for running. You'll just have to keep up with everyone on the blog, huh.

From britta on Sat, Jan 03, 2009 at 10:35:07

I will for sure keep up with everyone on the blog and catch up with you all at St. George.

I thought I should explain my new blog name... My husbands company is transferring us to Orange County. We will be moving the end of February. When the offer first came I was not too excited but I have really gotten excited about the move over the last two weeks. His office will be in Irvine so we are looking at moving to Mission Veijo.

My only wish is that I could take everyone with us. I am so looking forward to the running weather their year round I just hope I will be able to find great running friends. That's why I need you all to come with us!!!

This is a great opportunity and compliment to my husband. He has worked so hard and been succesful with JP Morgan Chase. His company purchased WAMU a few months back and they do not have Jonathan's division. So JP Morgan has asked Jonathan to go to Cali. and start his division in Orange County. He will be building his team of 8 or so from the ground up so he will be very busy this coming year.

We will live close to Huntington beach and Disney Land so we will fill our time away from Jonathan their.

After todays run I am totally jealous. At least you won't have to compete with the cruddy weather. Your asthma will probably do better in the humidity. Although, we will all miss you:(

From Teena on Fri, Jan 02, 2009 at 18:19:52

Oh Britta, I am so sad for us but so excited for you.

Get this, my hubby just asked me if I would be willing to move to Southern Cal. I am thinking about doing some additional schooling and he asked me to apply to some of the schools in that area. So maybe, just maybe, we will hook up there for some runs.

Yes, the all year running season sounds heavenly right now. I am very excited for you.

From britta on Fri, Jan 02, 2009 at 22:09:58

What schooling are you thinking of doing? I am actually looking to start school after I move. I was going to start this Jan. and then the move blind sided us. I am would like to be a dietician. I was going to do BYU's program but now I will have to find a program near me in Cali.

I would so love if you moved near me.

Are you running with the Chumps tomorrow?

From Teena on Fri, Jan 02, 2009 at 23:53:30

Hey Britta,

I'm actually just finishing up my history degree at the U right now (what a win they had tonight, yahoo). There is another program that I am considering. I haven't told many yet because I am not positive about it at this point. However, this evening I researched the Southern Cal schools with this specific program and only USC's program is ranked in the nation's top 20. Unfortunately, the tuition for this program at USC is 40K a year with available scholarships only up to 10K (it's a 3 year program)!! Man alive!! I'm not sure that is a viable option right now.

With it being as cold as it is going to be in the morning (which causes problems with my asthma) I am planning on running at the gym with one of the Chumps (that is, if I can get up at 5:45). If not, I will see what the weather is like later, and then decide whether to run on the JRP or at the gym.

What is your plan for tomorrow?

From Kelli on Sat, Jan 03, 2009 at 00:30:05

Mission Viejo is beautiful!!! That is where Scott's family lives (there and Laguna Hills). We are so visiting when we make it to Disneyland in 2009!

I am glad that you are excited about it now! That will make it so much easier. And after this cruddy running weather, who wouldn't be excited????

Treadmill miles. Fortunatley and Unfortunatley my hip always feels so much better on the Treadmill. I prefer to run outside but today wasn't too bad. I took a water break every 2 miles or so, so that broke up the monotany. Plus Braveheart was on TV and that is a kick butt show to run to.

I was really happy to get 9 in today. I wanted to make it to 20 miles this week. Next week I will shoot for 22-25. I hope to gradually get my miles back up between 35 and 40.

Great job, Britta!

Do you like the Jillian Michaels' videos? Is there one in particular you would recommend?

From britta on Mon, Jan 05, 2009 at 13:12:43

I only have one of her videos and I do like it. It is called the 30 day shred. I also have her book that has all her workouts in it. So I do that when I don't feel like doing a video.

I really like these workouts because they totaly compliment running for me.

The workout video is only 20 min. and when I use her book it takes me about 35 min. So I have plenty of time to run when I am done. She does a lot of core work which is so great.

Anyway, PM miles in home gym with hubby. He did weights while I ran. That always makes running on the treadmill go by faster when he is there with me. Plus he is so darn cute in his tank top.

From Britta on Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 14:16:34

Britta, I'm no expert, but my rule of thumb is Threshold Miles fall in between 10K and 1/2 Marathon Pace (hard but sustainable tempo runs)... V02 Max Miles would be like 5K pace and faster (i.e. interval training, track work, etc)

They actually weren't all easy miles but I did not keep track on the hill sprints we did. Ran with the BBK.

The same leg that my hip has been bugging me is having more problems now. It really doesn't hurt more when I run but through out the day I am having problems lifting that leg by itself. (putting pants on one leg at a time, etc.) It isn't my hip that is hurting more but almost on the complete opposite side of my hip. I don't think it is my groin but I am not sure what it is.

I am almost considering taking a month off so that I can heal properly in order to start training the way I want for SGM 09. I will be moving in two weeks so that might be the perfect time. Although, I am going to have to figure out what type of exercise I can do to relieve stress and keep my weight under control and still let my leg heal. Any suggestions?

From Cheryl on Tue, Jan 20, 2009 at 14:22:25

Pool running and biking have worked for me when I've been injured. Pool running is supposed to keep your running fitness for up to two months. Lisap, a blogger who is very speedy, does a lot of pool running. You might want to check out her blog for info on what she does. Good luck!!

From Kelli on Tue, Jan 20, 2009 at 14:36:09

I was going to say biking! It just uses an entirely different part of the leg! Sorry the pain is back.

When did the move go to 2 weeks???? We only have a couple of times left to run together (unless you stop before you move!) Darn it.

I am on for Monday and i am planning on 5:15 Thursday unless you tell me otherwise. I would only get up that early for you!

From britta on Tue, Jan 20, 2009 at 15:04:03

Cheryl,

Thanks! We will just have to rent a place in the OC with access to a pool. Which a couple of the rentals will be looking at this weekend have one right in the back yard.

Kelli,

Sorry I forgot to fill you in on the changes. I ran with Scott for a few minutes so he got an ear full from me. Anyway, Jon and I decided that it was not the best idea to send him with out the rest of us. So we are going to be renting a furnished place there so that I can leave my furniture here to stage our home during the selling process. Jonathan needs to be there the 2nd of Feb. So we are moving not this coming weekend but the next.

Can we plan for this Tues. instead of Mon.? 1 pm?

I am planning on 5:15 as of now, if my leg takes a turn for the worse I will let you know but I think it will be okay.

That is why I want to go at 5:15 so I have more time to chat with you. It is getting down to the wire for me.

From Marion on Tue, Jan 20, 2009 at 15:22:31

You are right- this is the perfect time of year for a break and healing. Just be sure to find out what the problem is so it does not come back. I am sorry your hip is giving you grief :( Bummer!!!

From britta on Tue, Jan 20, 2009 at 15:26:17

I did go to the DR. for my hip pain, so I know what that is, I just can't pronounce it or spell it. I think the other pain might be from running a little funky because of my hip pain. You are right though I should go back to Dr. T.

Ran with BBK on parkway this morning.

My hip did not hurt at all today. It did not even feel tight. I guess that is one of the blessings of coming down with Strep throat. I really have not run much in 10 days. This is the first day sense the week before Thanksgiving that I haven't felt any pain. I did not even have the insert in my shoe that the Dr. gave me.

Just got from lunch with Kelli. So fun and she introduced me to Kneaders!!! Yummy! Not sure why I haven't ever been there before

As a side note... We sold our house already. My husband and I feel so blessed and know the Lord is guiding us on our re-location. It is pretty great how he takes care of things and all we have to do is have a little faith.

Great job on the run, we were speedy fast that last mile!!! And THANKS for lunch (I did not go to Target, I am too lazy today for that!) Be glad you were just introduced to the nummy stuff at Kneaders, you might have gotten addicted like me!!! I am going to have to mail you stuff from Kneaders, or, better yet, just bring it to California and come visit!!

Great positive attitude on the move. I am so happy that things are working out for you. With the house market the way it is, you are obviously supposed to move and you are being well taken care of for making the right choice.

It was so fun to see you too and to meet Ryan. I feel like there is not enough time to spend with all those I want to before I leave but I was glad to be able to stop in on the get together even just for those few minutes.

AND.... NO I am not taking my meds. I know I probably shouldn't complain about my asthma when I am not helping myself.

I found a really great route last week that I did again today. It is 2 miles from my house to this great hill. It is behind some apartments and I run up to the peak and back down the other side for a cool down. Then I reverse it and do the same thing again. It is the perfect distance. So mixed in the middle of my 5 miles today I ran 4 hill repeats. The hill repeats equal to be 1 mile and then I turn around and run the 2 miles back home.

I have to say I am not having the easiest transition here. I do love the area but I really don't like our rental. It is old and I feel like it is dirty. Because it is a rental my husband keeps telling me to stop spending so much time to make it look the way I want it. He is right, because we really are not going to be here long. It is really hard to look around me while I am inside and enjoy California. When I am outside I love where I live!!!!!

I took my kids down to the beach for a walk. My two year old was so cute when I took his picture he kept saying cheese and grining so big. On the way home I got pooped on by a bird. Thankfully it was just on my hand.

Miss you all!!! If it makes you feel any better it has actually been a little chilly here since we got here. It has been averaging like 55. Which is actually pretty cold here. It is funny to see the locals walking around in scarfs, hats and gloves.

I ran the opposite direction on the boardwalk this morning. There were tons of runners and bikers and there were tons of surfers to watch this morning.

I felt great and was surprised that an 8:20 pace was comfortable today. I have stayed pain free in my hip and I am loving it. I am just not sure how much to push without re-injuring. I plan to listen to my body a little better this time.

The first 4 miles were very comfortable so I decided I need to run the last for miles as a negative split. I started to tire around 6.5 miles. I got chicked at 4.5 miles. Thankfully it was by a guy and not a girl. He must have been doing an out and back because a mile after he passed me he turned around and ran towards me. I was pleased to see he was working pretty hard. I like to think it was because he was trying to catch me. I will just pretend!

Let me start by saying, how much I love reading your blog. I think I am living my running days vicariously through you!! When I am out running I envision the beach, the ocean, bikers, runners, pretending to be you!! Not really, but sometimes its really fun to think about. 2nd, I admire you for posting your weight and let me say that it makes me feel a lot better because I am not a girl, nor will I ever be a girl who will weigh 110 pounds. I have gained weight too and I have no excuse for it!! And, I am starting to feel it in my clothes, in my stomach, etc. It's very hard to deal with. I would love to get down to 120-125, but it seems like those last 5 pounds can be the hardest. I will keep checking in with you and you check in with me, deal?? I may muster the courage to post my weight on here soon, but I know if I have someone to report to, it will motivate me. Thanks for letting me infringe on your ideas here!! Let's keep in touch!! Signing off from Utah :)

I fell asleep while my husband was at the gym last night and I was out pretty good. I got woken up by him climbing through our 2nd story window. He had to break in. So funny this morning. Not so funny last night.

It is my babies b-day today he is 2!!! I am going to make a spongebob cake. Hopefully it turns out cute.

I need to do a 35 min tempo run today. Hopefully after the kids are in bed I will make it to the gym.

Need to drink more water today. I also snacked a little too much yesterday, I will pay more attention to that today.

I ran along the pier and boardwalk today. It was windy and rainy but still so many surfers. It is fun to watch them.

My weight looks really bad today but there is a perfectly good explanation as to why. Which I would rather not share. So I was not going to post the horrid # but I figured I better stay true to what I set out to do... and that was to post my weight each day. So here goes nothin..

I am glad you got my note, thank you for the tips, that tunnel vision is perfect. I have been there. About 4 years ago I was on a diet and I told myself, I have complete control over what goes in my mouth, I will not allow social events or lunch dates or anything stop me from eating right. I lost 15 pounds, and it was from eating right all day every day until I reached my goal. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts, I could do more speed work, but I just hate to breath hard and hurt! I am such a baby!!!! It will be fun to see us reach our goals! I am very optimistic!!!

Ran through Newport beach today with Renae. When Jon and I retire I am so doing it in Newport Beach. So Beautiful!!!!!!!!

I ate a fruit snack and a box of raisins during the run. It seemed to be plenty for that distance. I need to get a hydration belt. It won't be as easy to "plant" water the nights before. Although there are water fountains along the beach so that helps.

This is the furtherst I have run since SGM. I felt really good. Pace 9:03. The pace was very comfortable.

I still need to sign up for LA marathon.

We ran past a guy preaching on the beach and he said "bless these runners". So funny!

Weight please :) (you didn't post today and you told us to hold you accountable) That's cool that you are tracking in public. It helps me. Did you notice I got two 130's this week. Ah, man, when you're used to lower its tough to spike up, but I always do when I move. Regarding the preacher: we've got to take all the blessings we can get, right. Regarding the fuel belt, I don't think its worth it. If you have water fountains that should be sufficient, then you can carry some gus in a pocket. I actually don't drink gatorade that often. I prefer water and a gu.

From britta on Sun, Mar 08, 2009 at 12:15:09 from 72.130.122.244

MichelleL, Thanks for holding me accountable. I didn't weigh yesterday because I always weigh so much less after a longer run. So today is 132.2. So again I am down. Yeah for me!!! I made it through Fri. and Sat. night without eating poorly. Yeah for me again!

Thanks for you thoughts on the water belt. I hate even having a shirt tied around my waist so I should really think harder about having something that bulky around me.

So sorry about the spike up in weight. You are right it is hard when you are use to lower. I am sure you still look the same to everyone else, you are probably the only one that even notices a difference.

I am guessing water retention, since your seem surprised and have been good. I am taking the weekend off and focusing on Monday, I am such a bad girl, this week being sick has messed me up and I am up again. I am the eternal yo-yo queen!

We will run a few miles on the Parkway for you!!!

From Kelli on Sat, Mar 14, 2009 at 13:00:17 from 71.219.76.202

Britta, I think you should pick one day during the week and just weigh yourself once a week. It is easier that way. So pick a day, do it as soon as you get up, and things will be more accurate. PLUS, you are tiny, so you are fine.

I have found that running makes the body wig out weight wise sometimes. Like, I gain about 5-6 pounds after a good, hard race. It has top be water. I did read an article that talked about women, running, and weight and how hard it is to keep it all in check. when you run hard, your body feels like it is starving so it holds on to everything for a few days.

Blah, blah, blah, you know all of this! You are BEAUTIFUL, you are eating right, so do not stress! Easier said then don, I know, but those few pounds that appeared for no reason will be gone just as fast as they arrived.

From britta on Sat, Mar 14, 2009 at 17:19:51 from 72.130.122.244

Kelli, So funny that your advice is right in line with my thoughts. All day yesterday after I was so mad about my weight I was thinking I should just weigh myself one day a week. Mostly because I am coming obsessed with the scale. I will have to pick a day. Thanks for your words of wisdom.

Miss you!!!

From MichelleL on Sun, Mar 15, 2009 at 12:35:00 from 67.41.191.61

I actually like to weigh myself daily. You just have to take each data point with a grain of salt. Size is much more relevant than weight anyway, so if the pants you want to be loose in are loose, you're good. BTW, I was 133 when I ran my 3:00:42 at St. G, so its not such a bad weight.

Asthma-Not good, Legs- Not Good, Bathroom stops- Not good, Conversation- GREAT!!! Thanks Renea!!!!!!

I really haven't felt 100% this week so today was a bit challenging. On top of not feeling well I had to stop and pee 8-9 times, I lost count. I drank three glasses of Diet Coke at dinner last night and Caffiene makes you go potty so I am guessing that was my problem.

We ate dinner at Ruby's Diner last night. It is the restaurant at the end of the pier. The kids love to eat there. We were sitting out over the water and watched a group of about 10 dolphins swimming and jumping. It was amazing!!!! The kids also got balloon hats from the balloon guy and they loved it!!

I didn't want to get up early this morning so.. I didn't!! My running partner is camping so I went all alone. It was actually nice to have my thoughts to myself today. I started at 2:30 PM. My body was wondering what was going on when I started.

Started in Huntington Beach and ran into Newport Beach. It is spring break and Newport was the hot spot today. It was quite entertaining while I was running today.

It was nice to see how I would handle it a little warmer today since the LA marathon does not start until 7:20 AM at the end of May. BAD IDEA!!! They need to change it to 6 AM but WHATEVER!!!! I did pretty well, wore a hat and stopped about every 2 miles for water. My mouth would get a little dry waiting for the next water fountain.

I also decided to pick up the pace every 3rd mile. Don't know why it was just kind of a fun game to pass the time.

Splits 8:50, 8:52,8:14,8:54,8:35,8:02,8:51,8:58,7:52,8:38,8:59,8:03 I really thought my last mile would be the fastest but I was running close to the pier where all the action is and had to dart in and out of people and bikes.

I am exhausted from moving again this week. We moved to a bit of a more permanent place. At least for the next 6 months. That is how long our lease is for and then hopefully we will be buying a home at the end of the 6 months.

I still don't feel great today and the stress of moving this week has practically put me over the edge.

I am not really excited about my marathon and I am having a hard time finding motivation to train. Someone please encourage me.

I am hoping these last two weeks were just off weeks for me and that I will be back to my old running self soon.

Britta - you probably need a down week or so to destress. Try some different cardio for a couple of days or a week and see if that helps.

Maybe get a massage and see if that helps you feel better. You have had a lot of changes on your plate the last few months and might be suffering a bit of depression.

Hang in there!

Honey, have you went and had a throat culture (sp?). I sure hope you don't have something serious. The part about your throat being so swollen that you can't drink has me concerned. I think you should go get checked! So, onto a brighter not. You live in Huntington Beach? I know I should know this. My friend just called me yesterday and is moving there the end of this month. I really want to come out and see her in a month or so. I wonder how close she will be to you. Wouldn't that be cool to meet up? You could even take me on one of your fun running routes!! From tarzan on Wed, Apr 15, 2009 at 15:28:59 from 63.255.172.2

Britta,

I am doing a lot better than this weekend. However, I need to be very careful and keep busy tonight because April 15th is an emotional day for me.

I used to love it because it signalled the end of tax season and my (then) husband would drop from working 100+ hours a week to 60 hours a week. However, 17 years ago today - after spending the night in the hospital hemmorhaging and having my third miscarriage, I came home and my husband announced that 'he had decided' we were not going to have any more kids - end of discussion.

Luckily, a couple of books I ordered came in the mail today and I will read them tonight and keep my mind busy.

Oh - can you please take the snow and rain away. :)

From britta on Wed, Apr 15, 2009 at 16:10:51 from 66.74.232.169

Maurine,

I am sorry! I have had two miscarriages. They are so tuff.

Can I ask how long you were married for and how long you have been divorced? Read your books cuddled up on a nice sofa!

My mom does taxes. She is so excited for this week to end.

From maurine on Wed, Apr 15, 2009 at 16:56:20 from 63.255.172.2

Of course you can ask! Our divorce was final about one month before our 21st wedding anniversary would have occurred. Unfortunately - my marriage started ending about 18 years prior to that. I have been divorced for 2 1/2 years. (Turns out the divorce was final right before the day our daughter got married and we didn't even know it :) )

She said it is a total of like 5 blocks and she is the 4th. Is any of this making sense?? I would love to come and visit her and come visit you and run!! MAN, that would be fun. We need to talk more about that. Nice run today and nice post!! Hope you are doing well today cute girl~~~

Okay girls it is settled. You WILL come to Huntington this weekend and do my 20-22 with me and we will go to Disney. Seriously come!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have plenty of room. Just let me know when to pick you up from the airport.

Ran along Hutington beach today. I saw the same homeless guy we saw last night when our family went for a walk. It eats me up inside to see people like that. I said a little prayer in my heart for him when I ran past. He must have had a hard life to get him to where he is today.

I couldn't figure out why I was running a 8:00 pace for the first half of my run and it felt so very easy. Then I turned around to come home. I was running with the wind and down hill on the way out and uphill and against wind on the way back. I felt like a ROCKET SCIENTIST to figure that one out.

From maurine/tarzan on Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 13:57:16 from 63.255.172.2

Now you need a Red Hot Chicks shirt to go with those red shorts.

Do you ever take food to the homeless on your runs?

From britta on Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 15:20:51 from 66.74.232.169

That is so interesting you asked. Just last night while we were at the beach my husband and I were talking about making extra for sunday dinners and taking food with us for walks after dinner.

In the morning I always run past several homeless who are usually still asleep. They sleep on top of the benches with all there things underneath.

I will have to think about taking food to them when I run. That is a great suggestion.

From marion on Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 20:48:10 from 71.213.126.135

Be careful Britta. Most homeless people are very nice, but many are drug users and you are DANG cute in your red running shorts :)

GREAT run! I love the fast runs and feel so dejected when I turn the other direction and suddenly notice the head wind ;)

From britta on Wed, Apr 29, 2009 at 02:10:34 from 66.74.232.169

No I did not put in for St. George. I have decided to not do it this year. I am happy about my decision. I just need a break. I really haven't given myself one since SGM 08. I am looking forward to a training free summer. Don't worry I will still be out running though.

My husband and are planning a trip to Hawaii in Aug. So I am planning on doing that Jillian Michaels 30 day shred program. I am looking foward to a change of pace.

Hope you are doing good today!

SHRED away Britta!!!

I love your blessings. I was watching a show the other night and it was about a little girl who was dying (she was 6) and it broke my heart. I was sobbing! Then I thought of your blessing and I thought, "Man, i am so thankful for healthy kids!!!"

From kellies on Wed, Apr 29, 2009 at 14:52:24 from 160.7.238.59

Sounds great Britta! I think it's awesome that you and your hubby can talk through things like that and make decisions. You are right, you will love your summer. I completely understand how hard and time consuming a marathon can be in life. And I know you will still be out running.

I want to go to Hawaii, or anywhere with my hubby at this point! I am jealous!! I really feel like I need a vacation but time does not permit for us right now (I think that makes me want it all the more). But you deserve it and will have so much fun. Let me know about this Shred in 30. I want to know how it goes!! Talk to you soon cute girl :)

We just went to Hawaii and loved it!!!!! What island are you planning on going? There is just something different about Hawaii. You are going to have so much fun. I think everyone should take time off running, at least serious training and enjoy the little things in life once in a while. Usually injury forces us to do so.

From britta on Wed, Apr 29, 2009 at 19:32:59 from 66.74.232.169

Josse,

We are going to Kaui! We have only been there once but loved it so much we have to go back. I am looking forward to switching gears workout wise for awhile. It took me some time to make this choice though because I really did not want to give up SGM but it is the right choice for me and my family right now.

From josse on Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 14:29:26 from 75.216.172.98

Good for you, it is hard to put running on the back burner. But I think it is a must do once in a while. We get pretty crazy with our training and tend to forget the important stuff. I have heard great things about Kaui, but I have heard great things with all the islands. You can't go wrong with Hawaii.

Blessing... Family prayer. Every night when we kneel down our 2 year old places us each where and how he wants us kneeling. It is so comical. He is so good at folding his arms and bowing his head. He totally gets into it. Which makes it a little difficult to keep a straight face.

Seriously Michelle!! Because there are two women in my ward who use to be Marathon runners, one was in an auto accident and is now in a wheelchair and the other has this condition that makes her fall over like 30 times a day so she has to walk with a walker. She is only 35. She was super fast too. She won the Ogden marathon and she has an olympic qualifing time.

So when I want to complain about my "problems" I remember them.

I was happy for you that you were able to run the Boston. I have been following you just haven't said anything in a while. Sorry!!! I hope you heal fast!

Blessing... The Treadmill. That's right people you heard me.. The Treadmill. Normally it is not my first choice, but there is for sure a time and a place for it. I would not have been able to get all my miles in this week with out it. When I was done running my kids wanted a turn. My 7 year old ran 2 MILES!!!! I was totally impressed. He was so cute when he would stop to take a drink of water or tell me to turn it to a better song. He was totally singing away. My 5 year old ran .25 which wasn't too shabby either.

You let your 7 year old on the treadmill? Okay, my kids beg to get on the treadmill but I have been scared. If your 7 year old can do it, then my 9 and 10 year olds should be okay, right??? I can not believe he ran 2 miles! Good for him!

And way to look at the positive side of things and get those miles in. How is the weather?

From britta on Fri, May 01, 2009 at 14:49:52 from 66.74.232.169

Yes, I even let my 5 year old run on it. Don't turn me into Child protective services. I of course stay in the room with them while they are on it. And I stand pretty much right by my 5 year old.

The weather is great. In fact we are headed down to the farmers market on the beach in just a few min. I need to find something really great for my mom for mothers day.

They sell more than produce at the market.

Burt, I am confused? What song?

From Burt on Fri, May 01, 2009 at 17:25:09 from 68.76.197.194

That old 70's song by the Byrds.

To everything (turn, turn, turn)

There is a season (turn, turn, turn)

And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die

A time to plant, a time to reap

A time to kill, a time to heal

A time to laugh, a time to weep

To everything (turn, turn, turn)

There is a season (turn, turn, turn)

And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down

A time to dance, a time to mourn

A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To everything (turn, turn, turn)

There is a season (turn, turn, turn)

And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time of love, a time of hate

A time of war, a time of peace

A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To everything (turn, turn, turn)

There is a season (turn, turn, turn)

And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose

A time to rend, a time to sew

A time to love, a time to hate

A time for peace, I swear its not too late

From britta on Fri, May 01, 2009 at 17:29:46 from 66.74.232.169

I choose not to sign up this year. I was so torn but it literally has about killed me to prepare for LA. I just needed a break from scheduled running.

I am glad it is too late to sign up because I changed my mind everyday for a month if I was going to do it or not. I drove my husband CRAZY.

If you mean my old neighborhood in Herriman.. No. Did you see someone who looks like she could be my mom?

Neener Neener is right!! And, that is funny about the plastic lady and her pink tennis shoed dog!! Only in California! Very nice run today and very nice blessing. I have often thought those very same things! As painful as it is sometimes, it is so nice to be able to run!! Loved your post~

Ran 10 along the beach. I was going to just take it really east today but I couldn't help myself today. I kept finding people in front of me that I just had to pass. Then once I passed them I couldn't slow down for them to pass me and then I would find a new person to leap frog. It was actually quite fun.

I also ran into a woman in my ward who is AWESOME! I have never seen a woman so ripped in my entire life. She is the one I have talked about that is a speedy marathoner with a Olympic time. I ran 2 miles with her. Thank goodness her dog is slow so that I could keep up with her.

Sounds like you had a great run. Remember when I made not such a nice comment about a girl and said, "we have to pass her I know her butt is bigger than ours". Not very nice but we kicked her trash up that hill.

I just bought a gallon of chocolate milk after months of not having but craving it after every long run, it is yummy!! Miss you like crazy!

UM...... I felt like I had never run a day in my life this morning. I ran real easy the first mile and then wanted to do a marathon pace mile just to feel the speed I am planning on running. After the marathon pace mile I almost passed out and I had to sit down. Then ran the last mile real easy home. I felt light headed and nausea the whole time.

My asthma has been bad this week so maybe my brain just isn't getting enough oxygen.

Not a really good feeling just 4 days before I am going to run a marathon.

Britta,

My guess is that it's the asthma. I hope you are remembering to take your meds.

Also, don't ask me why but eating applesauce everyday seems to help my asthma a bit. Maybe it's psychological ... don't ask!! :)

You will do great on Saturday! :)

Read with Caution you might get jealous.... So I ran 2 miles on the sand today, barefoot. It felt so good. Close to the water so the sand was  a bit more firm. After wards I took my ice bath in the Ocean! It was beautiful. The water was not as chilly as it was last week but I think it still did the job.

I can't believe it is over!!!! Let me start by saying I am super proud of mysely today. It was not the best racing day for me. I started struggling by mile 3 and then by mile 10 I just wanted it to be over. That is little earlier.. don't ya think.

My asthma has been bugging me for the last week now... and Teena I have been staying on top of my meds. (I thought you would be proud of me)

My lungs were pretty tight most of the race and my legs were bricks but I am proud to say that I talked myself through it.

I spent the whole race really trying to be positive and focus on the great things about the marathon instead of the negatives.

Mile 1 dodging in and out of people

Mile 2 more of the same

Mile 3 reminding myself it is okay to not feel perfect today just stick with it

Mile 4 feeling pretty good talked myself through a rough spot

Mile 5-10 more of the same

Mile 10-17 Really struggling and singing a lot of primary songs. Was still able to keep an okay pace. I wanted to walk sooooo bad but didn't.

Mile 18-20 Felt really great and was able to pick up the speed a little. At this point I was also doing the walk 30 seconds at every mile marker. That really seemed to help me today.

Mile 20-23 still feeling pretty good but couldn't keep up the pace anymore. I was moving slower. Still doing the walk for 30 seconds at each mile marker.

Mile 23-25 Can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Singing some more primary songs to keep up my mood.

Mile 26 Started busting it out. The crowd was AWESOME!!! They really got me going

.2 I had to stop and walk twice.... Can you believe that?  My quads started spasming so bad I couldn't keep running. I was a little bummbed I couldn't finish strong.

The volunteers at this race were so great... They would see my name on my bib and cheer me on by name. That helped so much.

The best part about today was my support system. My friend Renae came and cheered me on. I first saw her at mile 10 and then I saw her atleast 5 other times along the course. She would get in her car and drive to the next spot and get out and cheer me on. How great is that? I can not even believe how awesome she is.

Renae called my husband after she saw me at mile 10 and told him things were a bit rough for me. He gathered the kids and they all prayed for me. My family is really what got me through today. They are so supportive and encouraging of my hobby. They were all waiting for me at the finish line and my kids were so cute cheering for me. They were so darn excited and I loved it!

Well all in all I am really proud of myself. You tend to get out of Marathon day what you put into the training and for me I think I did even better than what I put into it. It has been really difficult to stay focused to my running during our move and while adjusting to our new lives. During training I just kept telling myself to "Fight for it" and that is exactly what I kept repeating to myself over and over again today.

Love to all my sweet blogging friends. Miss you all!

Peace out.. this girl is going to sleep!!! Till next time "fight for it" !

WARNING: Do not take your two year old anywhere while you are still recovering from a marathon.

This morning I took my son to story time at the Library. The library was not opened yet so mom's and kids were all just waiting at the front door. This library is on Main street in downtown huntington beach so the street is very busy. Zane decided it would be fun to start running back and forth along the sidewalk which was okay until other kids started to follow him. He thought it was a game so he decided to run into the street to get away from the rest of the kids. I could not get to him fast enough because I am hobbling around. So the only thing I had was my voice and I screamed like a crazy woman. Keep in mind I can see I car coming right at my son. So I am running to him the best I can and screaming with a crazy voice so that it would startle him, which it did and he stopped. He was in the middle of the street and thank goodness the driver was paying attention.

So after getting nasty looks from all the other mom's I left the library in tears feeling like such an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am still shaking!! I feel so dumb for not having him in a stroller or something but I didn't have him in a stroller because you can't take them in the Library. So thank goodness Heavenly Father was watching over us today. I feel so stupid and mad at myself.

We will not be going anywhere until I am faster than him.

Hi Britta. Thats so ironic that you commented on my page. I'm actually looking at joining a running club around here but havent gotten around to doing it. I'm always down for running and its great that we are at a similar level. I've got three races coming up over the next month so I'm trying to push myself hard to get new 5k and 10k PRs before the big marathon push in October. See you around.

Day 2: Jillian Michaels "Making the Cut"

AM: Slept through my alarm this morning. DARN! Had to settle for a 4 mile walk pushing a stroller. I don't have a jogger or I would have run. It was nice to walk along the beach with my two year old. He loved it. We saw lots of dogs and he blew kisses to each of them.

PM: Day 2, 5 Circuit workout. I really like these workouts. They are challenging and they have a little bit of everything, so never boring.

Ran 1.4 with my 7 year. So these were REALLY SLOW miles but nonetheless.. miles.

Food Intake: Another great day. 1390 calories. I ate lots of berries today. They are so yummy!!

What is the new goal here? 2 work outs every day??? Sounds like you are doing great and recovering well. YEAH!!!

From britta on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 16:05:50 from 66.74.236.175

I am doing a 30 day program that is supposed to drop the last 10-20 lbs once and for all! You follow a 5 circuit routine 4 days a week (the circuits are different everyday)and you are also suppose to do cardio everyday. You don't have to workout twice a day you can do both cardio and weights together but she suggests if you can to do one in the AM and one in the PM for extra calorie burn. I can't remember what it is called but your metabolism or something is increased for a certain amount of time after exercising. Whew!! That was a long explanation!

Oh yeah I am also only suppose to eat 1400 calories a day. So far it doesn't seem to hard. I just have to take extra time to plan.

How are you!

From ryan on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 17:22:12 from 64.122.22.226

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 02, 2009 at 18:13:52 from 71.219.98.183

If ya pick the right 1400 calories you can be very full!!! GOOD LUCK. You will do great.

From Leandra on Mon, Jun 08, 2009 at 12:42:52 from 71.213.97.130

Hey I wondered if this program was any good! So for the circuit workouts, do you need to have much of your own home equipment?

From Britta on Mon, Jun 08, 2009 at 13:31:17 from 66.74.236.175

Leandra,

I have a lot of gym equipment at home so I haven't paid that much attention to it... However a lot of the exercises I am just using hand weights. There are atleast a couple exercises each day that I am using my equipment but she also gives you options of different exercises to do for certain muscle groups. Maybe you can check the book out from the Library to see if it would work before you buy it. I also have a couple of her videos which I LOVE! They ompliment my running really well because they are not super long and I get in weights. With her videos you only need hand weights.

From Leandra on Mon, Jun 08, 2009 at 14:24:55 from 71.213.97.130

Thanks for the info! I have a gym pass, so that actually would actually probably work. I was thinking it was a video, but if it's a book I'll just pack it around with me at the gym. Sounds like you are doing really well with it! Thanks again for the info, i really wanna try it out. I'm bad at fitting in my weights and having a written out plan like that would be great for me.

Day 3: "Making the Cut"

Today is an off day for weights so just one workout for the day. 5 painfully slow miles. I am not yet recoverd. My muscles are so weak and tired. I had fun chatting with Renae this morning.

Ate a few to many calories today... 1550 not bad but still I need to stick to the 1400.

I also did not stay up on my water intake. I think that is why I was starving all day long.

Recommiting to drinking enough water tomorrow.

Day 4: Making the Cut

AM--3.7 miles on the treadmill. Pushed for 4 min recovered for 2 min. Did this for 40 min. My legs are still a bit sore from all the squats I did on Monday. I need to focus on getting enough water today. I didn't do so hot on that yesterday. I am already noticing a difference in my body! Little, but still the work is starting to show.

PM: Circuit workout day 4. .3 miles of sprints thrown in there. I felt good today. This is the same workout from Monday and it felt a little easier today.

Ran with Valerie again today. She is super speedy but humors me and runs at my pace.

I am trying not to be bumbed about the program I am doing. I have really only lost 1lb. I just expected to be loosing more weight by drastically cutting my calories. I am fitting into my clothes better but I really just wanted to see the progress on the scale. By the end of tomorrow I will be a third of the way done and I will see the whole program through. I guess we are not all made to be 110 lbs.

NO, we are not all made to be 110 pounds!!! You know, last week (day 4) you said you noticed a huge difference in your body---go with that and ignore the scale!!! And, as always, with a program like this you are gaining muscle.

You ALWAYS look fabulous!!!

From Britta on Tue, Jun 09, 2009 at 13:46:13 from 66.74.236.175

Kelli,

It just feels so pointless to cut down to 1400 Calories if I am not dropping lbs. Thanks for the encouragement.

From Leandra on Tue, Jun 09, 2009 at 13:46:22 from 67.41.189.2

Seriously, in your pic you look 110! And I agree with Kelli, focus on the changes you see in your body and ignore that stupid scale.

So I ordered Making the Cut from Amazon last night- you were my inspiration. :) I had been wanting to try it and after reading your stuff, I decided I really wanted it. So just know that by reading how great you have done so far made me want to do better!

Leandra,

You just gave me the motivation I needed to keep going!! I need to throw my scale in the GARBAGE!!! It is definatly broken!

I can't wait to hear how it goes for you. It really is a good program and I truly feel better eating so healthy!

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 09, 2009 at 14:08:40 from 71.219.74.247

Britta, maybe with all of that working out 1400 calories is not enough?? You know when you do not eat enough your body will hang on to pounds for dear life! Just a thought...it seems counterintuitive but it is what I did for St George last year and it is the lowest I have ever gotten. I need to get back to that (but not cookies, apples instead!)

From Jody on Tue, Jun 09, 2009 at 23:41:26 from 98.202.136.149

I agree with Kelli - 1400 calories is not enough. I cut out most my sugar and a lot of my junk about a month before Boston and have lost at least 5 lbs and a few more depending on the day. Depriving yourself is not worth it, just make healthy changes.

Day 11: "Making the cut"

Late night weights. I did each ciruit twice because of no running today. I figured out that only a week after the marathon I started running and I ran 9 out of 10 days after that. So I am goint to take it easy on running and focus on weights for the remainder of the program. I will still be running just not everyday.

Lost another lb. I am down about 3 lbs. I guess that is not so bad for 11 days.

I have also been eating just a few more calories than 1400. I think that is better for me. She does have you cut so low down in order to accomplish your goals in 30 days. But I really didn't take into account she only has you working out 4 days a week and only asks you to do 1 hour of working out on those 4 days. So I was exercising way too much for 1400 calories.

I feel like I have found a happy medium.

Hey Cute Girl!! How are ya? If you come in July, please let me know, we will have to get together!! How is "Making the cut" going?? Have you enjoyed it? Are you seeing results? I really need to start doing some more intense cross training. My body is in "Halt" mode, nothing is happening!! Keep it up Britta, you are awesome!

It has been a week----just checking in on you!

From Britta on Mon, Jun 29, 2009 at 23:40:08 from 67.159.142.6

Kellie,

Making the cut is good. I have noticed great results. If I could just stick to the diet part I would be super duper happy. Right now I am just happy. Her workouts are really intense and really fun. I really have enjoyed doing something a bit different the last few weeks. I have lost inches which is great but no lbs. I am okay with that because I really like the changes I have made in only 30 days.

I will for sure let you know if I come to Utah.

I should start working on that~ You still going to Hawaii in August? Wish I could go there too. Man, I have so many things I want to do but don't (can't) do any of it!! What's wrong with me :). From Britta on Wed, Jul 08, 2009 at 00:10:26 from 72.130.108.181

Shimelle,

I have been doing pretty well. I have lagged off on the running since my marathon but I have still been working out. My husband and I are going to Hawaii in August so I have had to work on the swimsuit body. My husband is in super good shape so I have to TRY to look like I belong with him. :)

Kelli,

My son did have fun. Right after finishing he asked "can I do the 10k next year?"

He was walking at the end and the first 10ker passed us. (it was a two loop course for the 10k people.) I told him dad should be coming up soon and warned him dad might pass us. That is all it took for him to book it to the finish line. He did not want his dad passing him.

I ran a really fun race today in a team of 4.  It was myself, my husband, my friend Renae and my husbands friend Jim.

Their were barriers we had to jump over, tires we ran through, mud we crawled in, rivers we waded through, sand we crawled through and a mud pit to roll in to finish it off. It was AWESOME!!!! We had so much fun.

This year was this particular races first year running. There were some kinks that come along with the first year of a race mainly the belated start time due to the 5k runners were not done yet.

All in all super fun and I will be washing dirt and rocks out of my hair for the next few days.

I wore an old pair of running shoes and just through them away afterwards.

I'm a little stressed out at the moment. We just got a letter from the property management company saying we have 10 days to comply with a list of things to do or we get evicted. GRRR!! And this after we asked them to fix the windows that were broken by golf balls, and they've yet to do it.

I was supposed to run with my neighbor Julianna today but her baby still hadn't woken up and she needed to hang around to feed her. SO.. I ran solo today and it was really nice. Somedays you just need to be in your own head.

I decided I would work on my turnover. I told myself to let my legs do the work.. think about form and think about my legs going just a bit faster. I was really pleased with the results considering that I really haven't been running a ton of miles lately. I was also a little suprised the speed did not feel to hard. Yeah!!!

Noboday passed me today!!! There was a guy who came up on me close to the end of my run but I started talking to him so he couldn't pass me. I am SNEAKY!!!

Riverton Paul, How does one count turnover. Do you count per minute or mile or something else?

BTW have you run into Alisa Dunn lately?

From RivertonPaul on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 11:58:26 from 67.42.27.114

Britta, most things I've read say to shoot for a turnover around 180 per minute, so they suggest counting each time your left (or right) leg and then doubling. I usually just count for 30 seconds, and hit about 47 /48 strides.

Sorry, I've not seen Alisa for sometime. Her parents are in my ward, though.

I haven't run many miles this week. I have a cold and allergies on top of that so breathing posses to a problem. I miss running so much outside. I have been doing most of my miles on the treadmill this last few weeks. I will have to change that.

My husband and I are headed to Hawaii next Fri!!!! Yahoo! My mom and sister will be here to hold down the fort. So I hope to run outside in Hawaii a lot. I am looking forward to being able to run with my husband, it will be FUN!

Yes miracles do happen!!! I actually got up at 6 am and ran today.. so I guess you can say that is 2 miracles for me today.

Favorite part of the run... I saw a plump little boy taking his dog out for a walk to use the potty. The dog was more than twice his size and I can just imagine the conversation leading up to this act... "Billy take the dog out"  "Mom I don't want to, it is still dark outside." "Billy you said you wanted this dog so he is your responsibility."

My level of running is sad but I went.

Favorite moment: Ran into a friend who was rollerblading along the beach. Stopped and chatted for about 5 min.

Blessing: My husbands patience in listening to all my "fat" talk over the years. Why do we do this to ourselves ladies? We, or I need to get over it and be grateful for the body God gave me. For the rest of the day no FAT talk for me.

Hurried and jumped on the treadmill while my sick child is sleeping.

I took my kids to San Diego yesterday to visit some friends and go to the beach. On the way home my 2 year old started throwing up all over in his car seat. SO SAD! I still had about an hour till we got home so I stopped and cleaned him up at a Carls JR. As soon as we started on the road again he puked again. I ended up not stopping to clean him up mostly becasuse I had nothing else left to clean him up with. He puked again to so I just hurried home as safely as possible.

Ran down to the beach today and ran 10 sets of stairs and 3 hill repeats. The hill was just about .12. I don't know how long of a hill I should use.. does anyone else?

It was super foggy and by the end of my run my hair was a ball of serious messiness.

Great dedication. I've been bringing my Book of Mormon to work, but I've yet to read it. Maybe today.

As far as the hill is concerned, if it's only 0.12 miles I would push it as hard as you can. Then catch your breath for as long as it takes so that you can do it again. Do it about 10 times.

From Britta on Wed, Sep 23, 2009 at 12:49:04 from 72.130.108.181

10 times?!! I did run it as hard as I could. Maybe I just need to find a bigger hill?

From Brent on Wed, Sep 23, 2009 at 15:29:11 from 168.178.30.75

Britta, does it matter how many reps, wow, your on the beach, sand running is darn hard, what is your recovery time between repeats? Recovery time no more than hill repeat time?

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

From Kelli on Wed, Sep 23, 2009 at 16:24:11 from 71.219.96.151

30 second hill sprints are what we do in our group, not that WE are right. So, I would say any hill you can sprint up in 30 or seconds or more.

Nice job, running on the beach sounds so nice!

From Britta on Wed, Sep 23, 2009 at 20:09:31 from 72.130.108.181

Brent,

So when I say I run on the beach I mean I run along the beach. There is a path all the way down PCH (pacific coast Highway) along the sand. It is paved.

Whatever hill I run up I usually walk or jog back down.

I am trying to build up a good base again after taking some time off, so I will add a hill every week.

Nice to meet you btw.

kelli,

miss ya!

From Kelli on Wed, Sep 23, 2009 at 22:58:14 from 71.219.96.151

Miss you, too!! BIG TIME. i think of you every time I run past your old house and wish you would jump out and come run wit me.

I got to thinking, we also do 1 minute hill sprints. So, I would pick a time instead of a distance.

Down to the pier and back. My legs just weren't working today. I couldn't get them to move the way I wanted them to.

Ran past a lady who had fallen on her bike. Stopped to help.

There was so much moisture in the air today. It felt almost like running in the rain only it wasn't raining. Very bizarre sensation. It was really foggy again.

Ran past a port a potty truck cleaning out the potty's. Thought I was going to loose my cookies. I kept thinking the air had to get fresh and it took about a half mile past the truck to get any fresh air. Very NASTY!

Happy Birthday to my Hubbie!!!

Got up at 5:30 did the Jillian Micheals "Making the Cut" Day 1 workout.

Ran 3 miles. This is rough estimate because I took a new route and did  not have my watch. I felt so good running today I could have gone forever. Too bad my husband has to go to work. Why can't we just live on Love?

Ran past.. let me rephrase that.. 4 missionaries ran past me. The Mission President here strongly encourages exercise each morning. It was fun to chat with them for a minute.

There is this little donut shop that I run past almost every morning and every morning my cute neighbor is there drinking his coffee with his friends. He is 75 or so. I always wave and say hi . Today he yelled at me to stop. He said, and I quote "This is the only time of day I get to talk to you without your old man or my old lady." His friends all started laughing and he hugged me. So FUNNY! I asked what we would do with all the witnesses and they promised not to tell.

Hooray!!

I'm deciding on whether or not to do the Mesquite Marathon. It's less than 3 weeks away. I better make a decision soon.

From Britta on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 13:18:11 from 98.148.73.26

Have you done that one before?

From Burt on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 13:27:55 from 68.76.197.194

I've only done one marathon before. And this is the first time Mammoth has put this marathon on in Mesquite. I don't know if it follows the old Mesquite course or not. Anyway, it's only $55. It's on a Saturday. And it's not too far away. The bad thing is, it doesn't look like an easy course.

From Britta on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 17:14:00 from 98.148.73.26

Burt,

HMMM? What is the longest run you have done in the past few weeks? Would you be trying to beat your time or just doing it for the experience?

From Burt on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 17:36:10 from 68.76.197.194

17.4 miles last Thursday. If I do it, I won't be trying to go all out, but I'd like to finish in under 4. That would be a lofty goal.

That's cool that you're loving the new house. I bet you'll miss the beach though...

Nice job on your 400 repeats. When is the 1/2 marathon that you're training for?

From Britta on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 17:12:32 from 98.148.73.26

Cal,

The half marathon is on Jan. 9th. I ran 1:43 at hobble creek a year ago August. I would like to run 1:40 at this half.

Do you do much speed work on the TM? Is it better to do it on the road?

From Cal on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 17:43:45 from 66.133.117.3

i've done most of mine on the road, but that will likely change over this winter.

my opinion is that it's fine to do it on the TM as long as you only relate or compare your times to previous TM workouts. i still haven't figured out how to make an exact correlation between TM pace and road pace. but improvements on the TM should indicate improvements in fitness and racing speed.

do you know when your next full marathon might be yet?

From Britta on Thu, Nov 05, 2009 at 17:02:08 from 98.148.73.26

Cal,

I am not sure when my next full will be. I am thinking about Ogden or Salt lake this spring.

When is yours?

From Cal on Thu, Nov 05, 2009 at 17:12:29 from 66.133.117.3

Ogden will be my next major focus.

From Runner Adam on Fri, Nov 06, 2009 at 04:17:21 from 64.203.55.70

I heard Ogden is a beautiful course. Utah is chalk full of great races. Plus I heard they have really great running blogs too;) Congrats on the house and good luck with your races coming up.

By the way, I am going to let you know I am anti-treadmill. There's no substitute for being outside, feeling the wind at your face, knowing your going somewhere, having to be in control of your pace, and in control of your path. Plus treadmill works different leg muscles than running since you dont have to push off the ground to move forward, you just have to hop up to not fall off the conveyor belt. But I'm not a girl nor afraid of running in the dark - probably speaking as a minority here.

From Cal on Fri, Nov 06, 2009 at 09:41:16 from 66.133.117.3

I would imagine that most runners would prefer outside runs vs. the treadmill. But there's a time and place for it. (Especially when its 5 degs outside, dark, 25 mph winds and iced over streets...)

But even minus all that, having access to a TM can mean the difference between getting in a run vs. logging a big goose-egg for the day.

From Huans32 on Fri, Nov 06, 2009 at 10:08:09 from 138.64.2.76

I found this a while back. And hope this helps you guys too.

http://www.trinewbies.com/tno_running/run_treadmill_chart.asp

So you know what paces to set on the TM and what it is like outside.

From Britta on Fri, Nov 06, 2009 at 10:22:23 from 98.148.73.26

I totally prefer outside to TM. I would agree with you Adam that outside is better when preparing for a race. I would also agree with Cal that it is better than nothing.

As a woman I do find it a little more difficult to run outside sometimes... I have run into my fair share of Exibitionists.. and that is even in a group.

My husband especially does not like me to run alone which makes getting in all my training runs a bit challenging. Thank goodness for the TM. I have a love hate relationship.

Thankfully, nothing came up! My husband and my daughter aren't feeling well now but no one else has thrown up. Cross my fingers!

Sick kids are no fun.

Don't go on a diet until after the new year, silly.

Happy anniversary! Double digits. Let's see, eternity minus ten years equals....

From Britta on Fri, Dec 18, 2009 at 17:15:29 from 98.148.73.26

Wow, the word eternity freaks me out a little. It is just hard to imagine something not ending. Everything here has an end!

Blessing: "The Nativity Story" movie! SO GOOD!!! We watched it last night and I cried a lot. Ladies can you imagine having a baby in a stable with only your husband there to deliver your baby!? WOW! What a miracle! We each are truly blessed because of the birth of the Christ child. Merry Christmas!!!!!

I just DVR'd that movie, but I have not watched it yet. I did not know much about it, so on your recommendation, I am now excited to see it.

TM run at 5AM. I don't know the details I just did it as fast as I could so I wouldn't be late for breakfast.

Went to breakfast with new running friends to "Burger Basket". Scary name I know! They all didn't want to run so I woke up early and ran 6 miles before we met at 6AM. So glad I did. I shared a breakfast burrito with one of the other ladies but I still don't care to know how many calories I ate. Super YUMMY!

Blessing: Good Friends.... I have been so very blessed with new friends this last year only to add to my life long friends I already have. Miss you my great Utah friends!!! Love you my new CA friends!
