Personal:

I have 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls. 11, 9, 6 and 2. I have been married to my guy for 13 years. He is great and so supportive of my running life. He is also very active, mostly weight training and he has run 2 half marathons as well. He is very fast without training too hard. 1:28 Half Marathon!!! I am working on being able to keep up with him. Someday when are kids are older we look forward to training together.

Did not have high expectations for the race. The last few weeks I have been dealing with sickness and the holidays. (Eating way too many treats)

I knew I could atleast run under 2 hours I just didn't expect much beyond that.

I had a fun day and raced okay considering my expectations.

I ran with a friends husband. He wanted to run a little under 2 so I paced him for most of the race. He fell just a little behind me around mile 8 but I could still see him for most of the race.

There were a lot of turn arounds on this course. You would run up a street for a ways and then take a sharp turn and head the same way you had just come. The turn arounds made it difficult to keep the pace but I also llike the turn around for a re-grouping aspect. It was fun to be able to see friends and keep an eye on them that way as well.

Around mile 8 my right knee tighetned up and from that point I had a hard time going faster than 8:30's if I did it would really start to cause me some pain. Honestly don't know if my lungs could have handled over 8:30 at that point anyway so it was fine.

I really had such a fun day so I consider this race a success. And for that matter we should all consider any raca a success, just for the mere fact we are participating.

Things I learned... If I want to be faster I really need to do my own training. I had fun running with some new people in my area but I really need to step it up a notch if I want to improve.

Way to go Britta! I like your positive attitude, too. Just a little better diet and some more mileage and you'll be leaving me in the dust again.

Great race Britta and a great time!

I saw the word FUN in there a lot, and that is what you wanted so the race was a success! You have not done a race in a while, how did that feel?

I'm glad you had a nice time. You really do have to do your own thing to train well, but you usually can find days where you can run with others. Your new friends can be great people to run with on recovery days. What's next? BQ?

Michelle,

I don't know what is next. I feel like I am loosing some enthusiasim for running. Do you ever do that? I have a road bike and am considering doing some tri's. I need to figure out what it is I want the most and go for it, I just am not sure what that is!

Nice race Britta. You ran beyond your expectations and had a fun time, can't ask much for better than that.

I like Michelle's idea for the BQ. I know you have it in you, you should go for it. Maybe at SGM 2010?

Cal,

So fun to see your name on my blog today!!!! I was wondering what happened to ya? Everything okay?

I joined the gym this week for a trial period. I felt like I needed some variety. I don't know if I will stay, I am not much of a "gym girl".I don't know what to do for fitness right now.

SGM in 2010 sounds great and definatly for a BQ. I am still a little bummed I missed it in 2009. What is your next race?
