He is also very active, mostly weight training and he has run 2 half marathons as well. He is very fast without training too hard. 1:28 Half Marathon!!! I am working on being able to keep up with him. Someday when are kids are older we look forward to training together.

I can't believe it is over!!!! Let me start by saying I am super proud of mysely today. It was not the best racing day for me. I started struggling by mile 3 and then by mile 10 I just wanted it to be over. That is little earlier.. don't ya think.

My asthma has been bugging me for the last week now... and Teena I have been staying on top of my meds. (I thought you would be proud of me)

My lungs were pretty tight most of the race and my legs were bricks but I am proud to say that I talked myself through it.

I spent the whole race really trying to be positive and focus on the great things about the marathon instead of the negatives.

Mile 1 dodging in and out of people

Mile 2 more of the same

Mile 3 reminding myself it is okay to not feel perfect today just stick with it

Mile 4 feeling pretty good talked myself through a rough spot

Mile 5-10 more of the same

Mile 10-17 Really struggling and singing a lot of primary songs. Was still able to keep an okay pace. I wanted to walk sooooo bad but didn't.

Mile 18-20 Felt really great and was able to pick up the speed a little. At this point I was also doing the walk 30 seconds at every mile marker. That really seemed to help me today.

Mile 20-23 still feeling pretty good but couldn't keep up the pace anymore. I was moving slower. Still doing the walk for 30 seconds at each mile marker.

Mile 23-25 Can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Singing some more primary songs to keep up my mood.

Mile 26 Started busting it out. The crowd was AWESOME!!! They really got me going

.2 I had to stop and walk twice.... Can you believe that?  My quads started spasming so bad I couldn't keep running. I was a little bummbed I couldn't finish strong.

The volunteers at this race were so great... They would see my name on my bib and cheer me on by name. That helped so much.

The best part about today was my support system. My friend Renae came and cheered me on. I first saw her at mile 10 and then I saw her atleast 5 other times along the course. She would get in her car and drive to the next spot and get out and cheer me on. How great is that? I can not even believe how awesome she is.

Renae called my husband after she saw me at mile 10 and told him things were a bit rough for me. He gathered the kids and they all prayed for me. My family is really what got me through today. They are so supportive and encouraging of my hobby. They were all waiting for me at the finish line and my kids were so cute cheering for me. They were so darn excited and I loved it!

Well all in all I am really proud of myself. You tend to get out of Marathon day what you put into the training and for me I think I did even better than what I put into it. It has been really difficult to stay focused to my running during our move and while adjusting to our new lives. During training I just kept telling myself to "Fight for it" and that is exactly what I kept repeating to myself over and over again today.

Love to all my sweet blogging friends. Miss you all!

Peace out.. this girl is going to sleep!!! Till next time "fight for it" !

From Burt on Mon, May 25, 2009 at 18:36:54 from 98.167.151.26

Well, since you'll probably wake up long after dinner, not sure what to recommend for you. However, it is Memorial Day, so a BBQ would be gre-eat!

Congratulations! It sounds like you were really struggling and I am proud of you for persevering. Marion and I were talking about you having your marathon during our long run today.

Those marathons where you just want to quit early on but you keep going show how tough you are and will make you stronger in the long run (so to speak). Congratulations on a great job!

From ryan on Mon, May 25, 2009 at 19:44:01 from 75.162.168.33

you rock - way to push through! Tell your hubby that even though it really isn't fun to push the stroller it is worth it to be out and be active with the kids.

Yeah!!!!!!! Even if you don't feel like it was your best race, you just finished a MARATHON girl! So many people will not be able to say that in a lifetime! I am so darn proud of you for sticking it out and finishing. Especially given the asthma, remarkable. Kuddos to your sweet friend Renae. That is awesome of her to come out and rally you along, I understand how much of a difference that really makes when you are running a marathon, what a sweetie. . Way to go Britta!! Rest and Recover now. You deserve it!

From britta on Mon, May 25, 2009 at 23:07:58 from 66.74.236.175

Thanks everyone for such nice comments. I feel like I have been hit by a truck. I never feel great afterwards but this is bad. I think this may be a long recovery. I am really looking forward to a week of sleeping.

Teena, My lungs are stinging tonight do yours ever do that after a marathon? It tells me I really made them work today.

Hey, I didn't realize you were revving up for a marathon! That must have been tough, having issues from mile 10 on, but it sounds like an awesome experience overall. Renae sounds like a great friend, and how sweet to see your kids at the end. Nice job Britta.

From Andrea on Thu, May 28, 2009 at 11:04:55 from 76.27.8.159

WOW-this whole running thing is amazing! Loved reading your mile to mile experience! Just know that you are my inspiration! You made this marathon happen even after your move and adjusting to a new life! You are truly amazing and a huge example to me! Good for you and keep running because I think that just makes you happy!

From rockness18 on Fri, May 29, 2009 at 19:55:43 from 69.183.233.238

Nice job...used to live in Newport and have great family friends in Huntington...Bjelland's, Cucchionotti's, Nehrigs and Boyers- 1 family's into running, the another played pro football...Huntington's big, but who knows?

From britta on Fri, May 29, 2009 at 21:23:17 from 66.74.236.175

I don't know any of your friends/family. Wish I did. Who are the runners? I will have to keep my eye out for them! You can never have enough running friends. I was reading your personal... did your wife have 6 kids in 9 years? Whew!!!!! I am exhausted after having 3 in 7 years.

From rockness18 on Sat, May 30, 2009 at 20:14:01 from 69.183.233.238

The runners are in the Bjelland family- the mother and 3 daughters, all now in college or just graduated. And yes, my wife had 6 in 9 years- she has endless energy, so it's been fun. Pretty impressive running for having 3 in 7 years. Keep up the good work!
