Personal:

I have 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls. 11, 9, 6 and 2. I have been married to my guy for 13 years. He is great and so supportive of my running life. He is also very active, mostly weight training and he has run 2 half marathons as well. He is very fast without training too hard. 1:28 Half Marathon!!! I am working on being able to keep up with him. Someday when are kids are older we look forward to training together.

Not really sure where to put miles so I just put them all in Threshold.

I had my hesitations about running this race during the 2 weeks leading up to it. I had gotten a cold and running my normal paces were more difficult. Jackie said something to me that made me realize I wanted to run the race and give it what I had. She said "This is why we get up so early in the morning". So I decided she was right and no matter what I wanted to race.

My theme for this race was NO EXCUSES!.....I was going into it with a goal (1:39:59) and no matter what I was going to have fun.  I usually run races and give into my acceptable time, the time that will be good enough. I don't usually just go for it. This race I decided I was not going to run conservative I was going to go for it.

Things I told myself during the race.... "If you are comfortable you are not running fast enough." and "Hang on to this pace for just one more mile." and  "You are stonger than you think." and "No regrets". Each of my kids also gave me a silly band to wear... so I kept looking at them and that kept me smiling.

I feel like this race was a breakthrough for me of sorts with the thought that....  There are almost always reasons why we "could have" gone faster, some are in our control and some are not.The one thing we control is the effort we put into training and what we do with what we are dealt on race day. PACE (Positive Attitude Changes Everything)

It was so fun to run the race with Jackie and Ana. There are several turn around points and since I was slightly in front for most of the race it was fun to still be able to see were they were. Jackie caught me at the last quarter mile and we gutted it out to end. We were laughing and running as hard as we could to the finish. I am looking forward to seeing the pictures:). She beat me by one second... can you believe it... one second!!! She deserves it!

Looking forward to a re-match :)
